She stood by the brook

unnoticed…

lifted empty hands to heaven…

praised Yah

for sunshine and good earth

unnoticed…

as cars cut paths in winds

beneath her…

swam and swarmed

through 2 lane asphalt currents

belching smoke.

She noticed

a dragon without mercy

flashing, smashing

towards her

monstrously tall

with claws as sharp as knives.

He did not notice her shade

as his tires

tore through her

or how her leaves followed him

as he sped away.
