Past abuses 

and cruelties,

unfair expectations 

and harsh words follow us

like a wanton cow looking for better pastures,

lowing

demanding 

we feed her grass

out of pockets full of nothing 

but a few cents

and an old piece of gum

yet

still she follows 

demanding grass 

refusing to give milk

sometimes we want to shoot her
