the needle of the  old phonograph scratches on the roots of a willow tree

’til

 little fish affections gather to bathe in moonlit streams

and the pebbles where my heart used to be

  grow pink once again

My name is Kimberly Vargas Agnese, though I've previously written as Kae Bucher. I was born in the Florida Keys, but grew up in the Bay Area before migrating south to the San Joaquin Valley. As I ride barefoot around Fresno, I consider the paths I've chosen and the crossroads where our country seems to have perched itself. Thanks to my Romani ancestry, many people groups reside within me and my poetry tends to reflect this. I love welcoming the sunrise with my Native American flute. I've been rumored to juggle while teaching students how to write. And if you can't find me, I'm probably hanging out with Jesus listening to parables.

  5. Wow! How do you generate so many thoughts in me with so few words? Explaining all I see in this would be a full page of prose and would be a lot less effective communicating it. I do not know if this is your intent, but one quick meaning to me anyway is: beautiful music & good can come from the past of our lives, replacing the pain of the wound scabs being reopened with new flesh of forgiveness and fresh vantage points…
