Like many Mexicans, I have both Arab and Jewish ancestors. Due to this I have kept an eye on these peoples and have spent a bit of time the last several years researching histories and keeping abreast of current events.
The following two poems were written several years ago. One is for Gaza. The other is for Israel. I have wept and prayed for both for years⦠for the mind boggling poverty in Gaza, for innocents murdered in Israel. I have shook my head and wrung my hands. When I learned about the atrocities of October 7th I thought I would lose my mind. I have followed hostage stories and felt sick , my heart has broken over the devastation of the Gaza people. I will take no sides. I am not here to argue, I am just joining the chorus of countless others around the globe. The violence must stop. The war must die. I have no answers. Only poems⦠and prayers.
