by pecking at them.

We’re going to let them ripen some more … but needed to pick due to the insistence of the squawking mocking birds who were randomly taking bites out of different plums. After we got the ladder out so as to save some for ourselves, they were so cheeky that they sat on a telephone wire and screamed at us while we were picking.
Nonetheless, it’s simply breath taking to gather fruit, work in the yard together while ground bees, Western Tiger swallowtails, Yellow bellied chats and other fauna swim above blue, sage and lavender sprays. Carpenter bees are discovering passion vine blossoms, the squirrel Stephanie has named Chomp has successfully traversed the telephone wire without getting pecked in the tail by a mockingbird bird… it’s all good… so good… Ty Lord:)
I just picked up my first basket of locally grown plums on Monday. I can eat them all day. Loved the way you framed the story 👍

Didn’t he though? Lol. When we’re outside some of the bullying tends to melt away doesn’t it?

That is funny about them taunting you. Crows are the same way here

We have to watch the elderberries because as soon as they ripe the birds gorge on them in an hour and there is nothing left

Your plums look so tasty! Funny about the mockingbirds. I have a pine bough swag with little fake red berries I wrap the porch rail in at Christmas. I had a mockingbird that was determined to get those fake berries. He worked at it for days 🙂
