My daughter is picking later in the season than she usually does. Huge shout out to Stephanie who is bringing in a glorious haul on this cold overcast day:)

Look what the Lord has done! Our first year there were only about a cup and a half to cure. Last year there were about two and a half cups. This year Stephanie has already harvested close to a gallon of curable olives!! And there is more to harvest tomorrow!

Concession: Most of my life I absolutely despised store bought olives. But, after tasting my first batch of home cured/ not canned, I am smitten.
Sadly, Stephanie, who used to be my partner in crime in abhorring what we considered the little nasties, still hates them.
That is why on olive harvesting day we always play Italian music and get pizza. As many Mediterranean ancestors as we have, this is still a really cool heritage type activity for both of us.. even if she doesn’t eat them.
With as many olives as we have this harvest, and with me being the only one who will eat them… there may be enough to last all year:)
Who knows.. in the coming years there might be enough to make olive oil:)
Hugs,
Kimberly
