Blessed with a reminder

Torn between our need for a new dryer, a new roof and our Christmas celebration, we chose to purchase a dryer.

Upon its arrival the brown skinned man wearing a blue hoodie and a thick Spanish accent explained that he could only drop the dryer off because we would need to pay an electrician to change our three pronged outlet to a four pronged one. After checking our purchase order we discovered that he was indeed correct.

And because we had forgotten to check this detail before purchasing, we were stuck. Stuck between the $20.00 in our bank account, and a need not only for an electrician, but also between the need Stephanie had for clean clothes to wear to work tomorrow. True to her Asperger personality Stephanie’s sweet hopeful face began to melt as she attempted to hold back tears. ( Stephanie is ok with me sharing this…)

In the midst of this, the man who had traveled several hours just to deliver our dryer shook his head…

apologized and ran outside to “ see what he could do.”

Long story short, he somehow swapped out the cord, and fixed our mistake.

Turns out that the brown man with a heavy accent… was from El Salvador…

Turns out that the man God used to show us grace is one who at any time might be targeted by Ice.

Turns out that now I’m the one who feels like melting down…

because this is who we are as Latinos..

and because…

God.

Is.

Good.
