i still don’t understand a lot of stuff… like how if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck… it’s called a platypus…and if it looks like a baby and smells like a baby … it’s called a choice… how come when gay students beat up straight students it’s called tolerance… how come when states fight against our country’s security it’s called sanctuary… how come when other folks threaten to cut folks heads off it’s called religion… how come we have to protect transitioning men so they can use the restroom when little girls are present … how come when bruce jenner rejects his sexuality i have to reject it too… to be considered accepting…
platypus platitudes look harmless… helpful… so how come when i don’t agree with them … i get poked with venom… how come having to say what others are saying is called free thinking… how come i have to be passive to be a peaceful Chrisitan… how come jihadists are called refugees and folks fleeing N. Korea are ignored…how come Solomon said there were times to say yes and times to say no… how come Jesus cleared the temple…how come it’s divisive for me for me to take a stand for unborn citizens…how come…how come…how come…how come… you know… i guess i’m just not that smart … i guess i’ll have to take the F…
So good! I like “platypus platitudes” and “free thinking”

For me, I start with the idea that all people should be treated with respect and dignity; you can’t win people to Christ if you believe that they are contemptible and you hate them; so you have to learn to love everyone and to find something lovely in everyone.
But for me what’s right depends on the individual and their situation; as no two people are alike or are dealing with the exact same circumstances. I don’t really believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach to everything.
When my thirteen-year-old friend got an abortion, when a gay student at my school committed suicide, when a Spanish-speaking friend of mine just disappeared one day; these are all people who don’t deserve to have been treated as if they were the scum of the earth. Everyone deserves a chance, a second chance, a third chance, as many as it takes. Christians should have been the first ones to comfort, to accept, to help, to have compassion; but what happened?
