In the Beginning

In the

beginning

He pours fig leaf

green ink

onto

our gold embossed

blank checks

where we tip-toe

like scared pencil scratchings

on black lined tight-ropes.

It’s as if

His pen holds seas,

seas

which rush

under

our black lined shadows,

seas where mermaids

toss forget me nots

at our grey boxed answers…

’til…

grasping for beauty

we pitch headlong

into

His ink.

In the beginning

He signs our checks

in blood red

L-O-V-E,

crowns us with garlands

of the forever

Blessed

and dreams of teaching us

how to swing from

rainbows.

~Blessed are you by the Lord who made heaven and earth~
