I know to some this may seem silly. What you’re saying correctly is We need to decrease and He needs to Increase? We as people need to put His needs before our own?
…we as a people are precious … not perfect… our need is to lean into Him and be loved :)… the wonder of who we are is in rest and being loved… not in trying to make ourselves into something else which we or others deem as perfect… if we chop ourselves to pieces we will end up with hash… instead of the wonder nd glory of humanity… once upon a time.. in the garden… God said… it is good:)
