Trees toss feathers in apple dapple hues,
leafy crumbs line sidewalks
as Fall mellows and jells into thoughts of gummie bears …
a neighbor child cups her hands over a cooling window
and a late summer pie trembles on the sill
while she peers past lunch boxes set on the kitchen table
to ghosts of Christmas past…
where children bounce on feather beds
and feathers bounce off laughter
and marshmallows swirl in chocolate blizzards of Halloween costumes and Thanksgiving parades…
fall and swirl around like goose feathers
bursting out of pillows…she knocks upon the window
before she skips away
her footprints swirling ‘midst leaves
Very good Kae 🙂

Beautiful. I love the line that says her footprints swirling ‘midst leaves. It makes me think of someone walking in the leaves. I love the sounds of walking in the leaves. Thanks for sharing.
