A Rejection Letter!…;) Wanna see my response?

So, before you feel sorry for me, let me say that I also get Acceptance Letters:) But for some reason I have gotten it into my craw to submit to a magazine with one of the very lowest acceptance rates out there. In fact, I have submitted so many times to this publication that the publisher feels like a household name. So.. given how hot it is, and that heat tends to lower my affective filter.. I sent him this, this morning:)

Acceptance is wonderful isn’t it? And rejection in one form or another is just part of life’s art isn’t it?

That said, at the end of our individual aspirations and dreams, we’re all just human …. aren’t we?

My name is Kimberly Vargas Agnese, though I've previously written as Kae Bucher. I was born in the Florida Keys, but grew up in the Bay Area before migrating south to the San Joaquin Valley. As I ride barefoot around Fresno, I consider the paths I've chosen and the crossroads where our country seems to have perched itself. Thanks to my Romani ancestry, many people groups reside within me and my poetry tends to reflect this. I love welcoming the sunrise with my Native American flute. I've been rumored to juggle while teaching students how to write. And if you can't find me, I'm probably hanging out with Jesus listening to parables.

    • Thank you:) It may or may not happen with this particular publication.. but it’s fun to try..

      I’d like it to… but I really endeavor to surrender this journey the Lord has placed me on.. to Him:) Also, to be honest, it probably helps that my work has been published in other journals…might even be part of my Native roots.. that it’s ok for not everything in life to go as planned.. kind of like the intentional “ mistake” woven into our rugs:) And so I submit:)

      • 🙂 Yes. In and through all things, regardless of whether or not it is according to our plan, the Shepherd brings good.. beyond all we can think or imagine. Years ago I longed for a super successful blog… and instead the Lord called me off WP for several years… since then… over thirty of my poems have been published in Lit Journals, He gave favor to be chosen as a 2022 finalist for an international poetry contest held by Notre Dame and last fall I signed a traditional offer of publication for a poetry collection which launches in October and has been endorsed by former U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera, and Young People’s Poet Laureate emeritus, Margarita Engel.
        There’s still a hole in my roof, I still get rejection letters… but am on a cool adventure with Him.. His yes’s and no’s are all part of the journey:)
