Published in Shift Magazine’s 2021 publication which reflected on Covid.

During the pandemic, the treatment of essential workers which included the beautiful fruit picking hands of those who feed our country, was shameful.

…. my father and his family were migrant farm workers who served our country by working the fields up and down the west coast.

And now Ice is going after the same.

    • Yes.. during the pandemic I was deeply disturbed by the contrast between the government’s concern about “everyone’s “ safety… except the essential workers.. and how everyone was receiving stimulus checks except those who could not shelter in place so as to feed us.. instead of being treated with respect and gratitude for what they were risking to keep us in food… they were treated like they were not human… and that’s beyond not OK
