Does It Make Me Less Kind
Had to repost this poem by Michelle Ayon Navajas who is challenging evil political schemes.
Those without homes are scheduled to be “removed” to “ clean up” the streets in Washington DC.
So that “people can enjoy parks again.”
Which makes one wonder, why isn’t the government recognizing that it isn’t a home that makes you human
but rather the commitment to treating others with compassion?
Stephanie and I are troubled. Our understanding is that there are more people without homes than there are beds to hold them…
so where is the National Guard going to take these people?
Where are they going to take them?
Where are they going to take them?
WHERE ARE THEY GOING TO TAKE THEM???
A sad and disturbing reality 😔💔

This is reality. Years ago I proposed an idea for the homeless in my then city. I got no response. I even reached out to churches but no response.☹️

I know from my experience working in mental health that there is no place to put them, and they can’t be forced into an institution without a compelling reason. As it pertains to California, Gov. Newsom shouldn’t have invited the homeless into CA and then abandoned them when it became politically uncomfortable.

Thanks so much for sharing this powerful poem! I’m hoping to share it on an upcoming blog post about homelessness, and have asked the author for permission to use it.
