Looking forward to presenting/ reading here …

because my beautiful daughter Stephanie will be introducing my poetry collection, Kadupul Flower AND presenting a slide show about Meadow Arc!

As I continue to recover, ( been down for about three days) Stephanie and I will be collaborating about this Saturday’s upcoming event at our beautiful Clovis Library.

For me, the support of others has been one of my very biggest takeaways from this poetic path the Lord is shepherding us on.. and we are so thankful to the Clovis Library’s willingness to support local authors like myself.

An admission about my relationship with Stephanie: have you ever been to a student award / graduation ceremony and witnessed family members standing and cheering for their child on stage? I am one of those enthusiastic whooping parents who has had the immense privilege of witnessing their child’s success… so often in fact that I remember one particular time where, before calling Stephanie up to the podium to receive an award the administrator almost apologetically stated “ is anyone surprised.. ?”

The Lord’s plans for Stephanie have always amazed me. When Stephanie was 4 her preschool teacher informed me that she was ready for Kindergarten. First through sixth grade she had the honor of attending the Sparthenian breakfast which was for each class’s model student. In third grade during a parent teacher conference I was told that the only problem that Stephanie presented was that it was hard for the teacher to keep up with her.. after which she whispered, “ I think she might be a genius.” Subsequently fourth through eighth grade she was in the gifted and talented program. When she was 12 the Lord whispered to me that there was a Daniel type anointing on her and asked me to prepare a “ Daniel wall” in her room for all the success He was going to give her.

In eighth grade she earned the Leader of the Pack Award.

In highschool she medaled in Mock Trial , Science Fair and Science Olympiad and the shelves on her Daniel Wall filled with Forensic trophy’s. She made it to Nationals for History Day competition, was invited to Washington and graduated Valedictorian.

She was the kid who succeeded in spite of poverty… the one I would drive to our local McDonalds or library so she could use the Internet. The one who accompanied me to Taco Bell where we could use the Internet to design my first blog , Buckets on a Barefoot Beach, or to use Robertito’s internet to send off early manuscripts.

We have Internet now, and so many beautiful memories.. of which I am hoping this coming Saturday will be one more:)

Pray for us as we prepare?

Kimberly
