This year Anna’s limbs curve downward with a generous offering of fruit. Many thin the tree when they see this happening so as to have larger apples and help keep the limbs upright.
Buuut… Stephanie and I prefer the magic of our Food Forest, which has become a journey to observe the workings of creation, rather than trying to manage them all.
So… our attempt to address this issue is to just pick from the heaviest limbs … which means that we enjoy them tart… sometimes even a little astringent….until ripe.
We have already eaten quite a few from this beautiful rooted neighbor.
Thanks be to God for His good gifts:)

With Swiss cheese! Or peanut butter!

Tart apples can make a lovely applesauce. We used to do that, adding only enough sugar to give it that sweet-tart taste we love.
